Dr. Peter S. Pao, the L.M.K. Boelter Visiting Professor Chair at UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science, joins CSST as an invited speaker and member of the mentor team. Dr. Pao's diverse background, personal experience, leadership style, and commitment to the next generation of researchers is a valuable resource for the CSST participants who can look to Dr. Pao for career guidance.
Previous to his appointment at UCLA, Dr. Pao was the Corporate Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Raytheon Company. A leading expert in aerospace and electronics, Dr. Pao has been recognized with many awards and achievements including the LEAP Leadership Award, Raytheon Hero Award, Asian American Engineer of the Year Award, and the Chinese American Engineering Achievement Award.
Prior academic appointments have included the University of Georgia as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics and a member of the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton from 1977-1978.
Dr. Pao immigrated to the United States from China in 1969 after completing his bachelor's degree in mathematics from Fu-Jen University in Taiwan. In 1975, he completed his Ph.D in mathematics at the University of Michigan.
